In October 2009, Corporal Andy Reid MBE stepped on a Taliban improvised explosive device while on patrol in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Injured so badly that it was thought he would not survive, he defied the odds to the extent that, within a month, he was able to meet up with members of his patrol again. Since then as a triple amputee, he has gone on to carry out many arduous challenges to raise money and give back to the associations that helped him and his family through difficult times.
After we met Andy as a guest speaker at one of our live events in 2021, we were inspired by his story and how much he has achieved, and his mission to help others. We were delighted when Andy reached out to us to work with him on producing his future events for his foundation.
Ellen French, Digital Manager at Holland Alexander said;
The Standing Tall Foundation was co-founded by Andy and his friend John Tabern (also CEO of the Foundation), in March 2020. The Foundations aims, are to promote the mental and physical health of all community groups, through the provision of counselling, addiction support and physical activity initiatives. They further extend this support into the community to help those in financial hardship, including the homeless, via the provision of grants, items and services using the resources secured by the Foundation or those made available.
