Throughout October, Leicester’s design community and beyond came together to showcase the region’s work and development. To mark the beginning of the 3 week-long season Holland Alexander managed a special DS2 launch event, which took place in the beautiful surroundings of All Saints Church.
Over 100 of the city’s design sector leaders, stakeholders and influencers gathered to hear highlights of the upcoming 3 weeks of industry curated events. Collaboration is key to the success of DS2 and this was highlighted by the speakers at the launch event, including Bill Haley of Haley Sharpe Design, James Burkmar from LCB Depot and Holland Alexander MD, Louise Holland.
Leicester’s own Framework Brewery kept the drinks flowing throughout the event with their special DS2 beer, whilst GRAYS, who are known for their spot at the heart of LCB Depot, provided freshly prepared canapes including oysters and arancini.
As part of the live event delivery Holland Alexander co-ordinated invitations and provided guestlist management at the event. With the event taking place in a Grade 1 listed medieval church Holland Alexander also co-ordinated technical delivery to bring the event to life and in keeping with the cutting-edge nature of the DS2 programme.
Whilst previously quiet about its prominence, Leicester is actually home to the second largest design cluster outside of London. With over 4,400 active creative businesses and over 14,100 people in creative based jobs, the industry development shows no signs of slowing. As one of those creative businesses operating in the city, Holland Alexander is a very proud partner of Design Season, which is set to return 2020.
