What I learnt on my HA student placement

At Holland Alexander we have a strong commitment to helping and inspiring the next generation of Event Managers to start their career path. Our recent student placement student, Ellen, told us what she’d learnt on her 3 week stay.

“As part of my Arts and Festivals Management degree, it was essential for me to do a work placement for an events company. I chose Holland Alexander because I wanted to find out what a company that specialises in a variety of events would be like to work for.

Here are the top five things I’ve learnt from working at HA:

  • There is a huge difference between the theory behind event management and actually working in the industry.
  • The day doesn’t rest when you’re working on a range of diverse projects in a fast paced environment.
  • It’s important to take time to apply theory knowledge into a practical working events environment.
  • The importance of creating and updating live engagement and marketing plans.
  • How I can put my student connections and knowledge to good use within a real working environment.

I really enjoyed my time here and I will miss working for HA, I would absolutely relish the opportunity to work for this company again in the future.”
