HA business trip to US: Day 2 (by Lou Holland)

Lou Holland covers Holland Alexander’s business trip to the US in a daily blog featuring IMEX America 2013 – 13th to 17th October

Day 2: Monday 14 October
San Francisco

Up at 4am to get an early flight out to San Francisco for introduction business meetings.

In business wear walking through the casinos on my way to the exit whilst party people are still trying their luck and dressed for it is a surreal feeling.

Arrival to SF is ahead of time so I take a moment to walk through the Yerba Buena gardens, next to Moscone Ctr in the city where we produced events for three days back in March and it’s good to see it again. In our work you get attached to places you spend time at particularly when you work really hard in that space.

First meeting goes well, good conversation and the senior director gave me time to present our experience and client success values. Exciting conversation.

Our next step is to connect with another colleague and take it from there. Definitely worth the visit.

Alas the second introduction meeting is cancelled a few minutes before it was to start due to their client calling a meeting. It happens.

I exchange emails with another company director based in SF and hopeful of a meeting in the future as he’s travelling to LA today.

I get an earlier flight back to Las Vegas and enjoy meeting Magnus (red wine lover) and John (who did not look his age) on my seating row.

Back in Vegas and I meet up with Sarah Thursfield who is representing Experience Nottinghamshire at the Visit England expo space and we discuss ideas and strategy for HA and what networking events to attend/I should gate crash..!

Finished off the day with emails and prep for tomorrow’s IMEX start.

Restful night beckons in readiness for the next full on three days..I’m ready!
