Three more great acts announced for Love Luton 2012 Festival

This summer’s Love Luton 2012 Festival is set to be even more spectacular following the announcement of three more talented artists.

Up-and-coming boy band Lawson, soca superstar SW Storm and former X Factor contestant Bradley Johnson will all be appearing on the same evening as The Wanted at Popes Meadow on Friday 6 July.

More great acts including the chart-topping Olly Murs will be taking to the stage at the same venue on Saturday 9 July.

Lawson, named after a surgeon who performed a life-saving operation to remove a brain tumour from the band’s lead singer, hit the headlines after posting their first single ‘She’ on YouTube.

Within a day the website featured the song on its front page after floods of people went online to view it.

This was the springboard for the band who went on to perform numerous gigs across the country, including a slot at the 2010 Wireless Festival and supporting The Wanted on tour.

With hundreds of thousands of hits on YouTube and more than 20,000 Facebook fans, it’s clear that Lawson are a band with a huge future.

While Lawson are just emerging as a talent for the future, Sina Wayne, more popularly known as SW Storm, has been representing the soca scene for over 15 years.

Widely regarded as one of the most versatile artists in the Caribbean, SW Storm cut his teeth as a soca artist before his unique style helped to create a new sub-genre, ‘pop soca’.

In 2010 Storm switched his style once again, with his single ‘De Hammer’ incorporating a mix of Hindi-English lyrics.

Having starred at most major soca festivals, SW Storm will no doubt have the crowd on their feet when he comes to Luton.

Bradley Johnson first made his mark on the music scene at the 2011 auditions for The X Factor, where his rendition of Ed Sheeran’s ‘A Team’ earned him a standing ovation.

After making it to the show’s boot camp stage, Bradley became part of the group Nu Vibe, who made it to the live finals.

Alongside his fellow X Factor contestants, Bradley earned a number one single with Wishing On A Star.

The young talent has now signed an exclusive solo deal with record label Ingeny Music Ltd and will be launching his debut single this spring.

Rob Lee, artistic director for the Love Luton 2012 Festival, said: “Once again it’s a pleasure to announce three more brilliant acts that will be performing at this year’s festival.

“The blend and diversity of music on offer over the weekend will help to create a unique atmosphere which will be enjoyed by everyone in the town.

“If you haven’t got your ticket yet, I can’t encourage you enough to go out and get one and be part of the greatest event in Luton’s history!”

The Love Luton 2012 Festival from 6-9 July will be packed with a huge range of activities including a spectacular carnival parade, school games, fireworks displays, Mela activities along with a kaleidoscope of music, comedy and dance, and the special Olympic Torch celebration event on Sunday 8 July.
