Love Luton 2012 Festival: media invite to

announcement of first act

 

Venue: Lea Manor High School (The Theatre), Northwell Drive, Luton LU3 3TL

Time:  12:50pm – 1:30pm

Journalists, photographers and broadcasters are invited to a special announcement of the first high profile act confirmed for the Love Luton 2012 Festival.

The popular act is currently in the UK music charts and will be performing on Friday 6 July at Popes Meadow. Tickets will go on sale on www.luton.gov.uk/2012festival immediately after the event.

This announcement has been eagerly anticipated both locally and regionally so this is an opportunity to be one of the first to find out who this chart topping act is.

 Proposed timetable:

12:30pm – Sign in at Costa Coffee by the Theatre

12.50pm – Invited guests and students seated

12:55pm – Welcome by representative of Lea Manor High School

12.57pm – Short introduction by Cllr Hazel Simmons, Leader of Luton Borough Council

1.00pm – Overview of Love Luton 2012 Festival by Robert Lee, Artistic Director

1.08pm – Act is announced and pre-recorded VT is shown on the stage screen

1.10pm – Merchandise and signed act photos distributed to students

1.15pm – Colin Chick, Corporate Director of Environment and Regeneration

1.20pm – Media Q&A with Love Luton 2012 Festival panel:

Background:

The Olympic Torch is coming to Luton this summer and to celebrate the town is hosting the Love Luton 2012 Festival from 6-9 July 2012.

The unique weekend-long festival promises to be the most spectacular event in Luton’s long and proud history.

The festival will be packed with a huge range of activities including big-name music concerts, a spectacular carnival parade, school games, fireworks displays, Mela activities along with a kaleidoscope of music, comedy and dance leading up to a special Olympic Torch celebration event.

The University of Bedfordshire was announced earlier this week as the first platinum sponsor of the Love Luton 2012 Festival.
