 University of Bedfordshire named as

first sponsor of Love Luton 2012

Festival

The University of Bedfordshire has been announced as the first platinum sponsor of this summer’s unique weekend-long festival that will coincide with the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Luton.

The Love Luton 2012 Festival is set to be one of the largest and most spectacular events in the town’s history with tens of thousands of people attending the many activities that make up the cultural weekend.

The festival will be packed with a huge range of activities including big-name music concerts, a spectacular carnival parade, school games, fireworks displays, Mela activities along with a kaleidoscope of music, comedy and dance leading up to a special Olympic Torch celebration event.

The University of Bedfordshire will be named as a platinum sponsor on all pre-event publicity and their logo will be on all festival marketing material including print, press and outdoor advertising in Luton and the surrounding areas.

As a platinum sponsor, the University will also have trade and information stands in prime locations at the festival, advertising on the main concert stages, editorial in the weekend souvenir guide and a strong presence as part of the social media campaign.

Professor Les Ebdon CBE DL, Vice Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire, said: “The University of Bedfordshire is thrilled to be a key part of Luton’s biggest ever event. We have strong links with our local area and the Love Luton campaign, and we are delighted to sponsor a festival which will celebrate diversity and bring so many people together.

“The platinum sponsorship was an opportunity we couldn’t turn down. We want to support our neighbours because the University and its students are at the very heart of the local community here and a key part of the local economy too. The plans for the weekend sound spectacular and we can’t wait until July!”

Cllr Hazel Simmons, Leader of Luton Borough Council, said: “The University of Bedfordshire is such an important part of Luton so I am delighted that they will be able to showcase their excellent offer to such a large audience as platinum sponsors of the festival weekend.”

With huge numbers of people from the town and surrounding area expected to attend the festival, there are still plenty of opportunities for businesses to reach tens of thousands of potential customers by being an official festival sponsor.

Cllr Simmons added: “Not only is this going to be one of Luton’s biggest ever events, but with national and international interest in the Olympic Torch Relay, the festival is guaranteed to generate massive media interest which will showcase the very best of Luton’s rich culture and heritage.

“This makes it a perfect marketing opportunity to have your organisation’s name associated with the festival which will be enjoyed by huge numbers of families, businesses, tourists, students and local communities. There are still sponsorship packages to suit any type of budget so I encourage you to get in touch. Do not waste this golden opportunity.”

Luton Borough Council’s Communications team has produced a sponsorship pack for organisations wanting to be part of this massive and truly unique cultural event. The pack includes a sponsorship matrix with associated costs for each of the available packages.
